Wow! Went out early this morning. It was beautifully clear. Connected with a bunch of stars in Orion. Did some CE-5 guided meditations. At about 3:30, I notice some odd patches of light in the sky, to the north. Almost like a small cloud of light blown by the wind that vanishses after a second.
When I take a closer look, I see that its all connected. I puzzle over what could cause it, too widespread, and too disconnected from the glow of Glencoe to be from the town. Then recognition dawns on me that its the Northern Lights! I didn't know they did that. At about 3:45 - 3:50, suddenly they turn bright red and green! It was spectacularly beautiful. They looked kind of like an audio wave visualization, vertical bands all connected in the sky. It reached as far as a single view could take in, maybe 100 degrees? Some of hte bands were very, very tall, and several stars were visible through them. Before and during, I saw also probably 8 shooting stars, some barely visible, some quite bright.
